Short Description / Project Description
In our workshop, we performed service and maintenance on a BMW R26 from 1957. The motorcycle features a single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine with 250 cc and a 6-volt system. The goal was to preserve the original condition and ensure the functionality of this classic motorcycle.
Analysis / Initial Condition
The BMW R26 arrived in well-maintained condition. However, typical weak points for this model year required regular inspection and targeted maintenance. These include the ignition system, fuel preparation, and other minor mechanical components.
Work / Actions Taken
For maintenance, we carried out the following tasks:
- Adjustment of the contact ignition for reliable operation
- Inspection and correction of the carburetor fuel mixture
- Valve adjustment for optimal engine performance
- Replacement of all fluids (engine oil, gearbox oil, final drive oil)
These measures ensure the motorcycle functions properly while preserving its historical character.
Conclusion
The BMW R26 is nearly 70 years old and still runs reliably. With regular maintenance and proper care, we help preserve classic motorcycles like the BMW R26 and their historical riding experience.
